Fosters

Steri-Animal needs foster homes to shelter (temporarily, for a period of 3-6 months) cats and/or kittens until they get vaccinated, spayed or neutered and adopted. If you would like to help us save these desperate darlings by sharing your home with them, please contact us as soon as possible to fill out an application, for the need is great and urgent.

Photographers

We need photographers to visit our foster homes and take great pictures of our animals being fostered:
pictures that show off each animal's beauty. You will also need to gather information from the foster about the animals so that we can write a good paragraph or two about each for our website. If you have a camera (preferably digital) or a traditional camera and scanner, and have some time to give to help our cause, please contact us. (We also need a photographer to photograph the animals already adopted so that our website has some happy stories on it.) If you have a car,fantastic! If not, we'll try to find you a driver.

Drivers

We very much need drivers to drive our animals back and forth from foster to vet, from foster to adoption clinics, and to special events. We also need drivers to drive medication to fosters, and to
occasionally drive food donations to fosters and/or animal refuges. We need drivers to drive our photographers who don't have cars, to ensure that all our animals get on our website to increase their chances of being adopted. The more drivers we have, the easier it is on everone. Please help us if you can.

Trappers (humane)

Our main objective at steri-animal is to decrease the cat overpopulation in Montreal by trapping, spaying and releasing colonies of strays who are being fed by neighbors. We try to place in foster homes and then by adoption into permanent homes, those animals in the colonies who are less feral and could be adoptable. The more animals we can spay and neuter, the more we can stop animals from multiplying. However, we need your help to help catch them, as this can be a frustrating and difficult task.

If you have a good book to read and a folding chair, and of course a heart of gold, you could spend a day "hanging around" a specific location that we would give you, waiting patiently for that certain elusive cat to finally go into one of our "baited" humane traps. These traps do not hurt animals, and remember, we are doing this for their own good, so that we can get them spayed or neutered. And of course, when we take a mommy we take all of her babies. If you can spare an occasionnal day, please help us to help them. This is a very important task and we very much need you for this. We will train you and give you support (transportation, etc.)

Fundraisers

You can help us gather much needed money, as the more money we have, the more animals we can spay and neuter and the more we can make a difference. If you have fund-raising skills or experience, if you're dynamic, bilingual, creative, efficient and enjoy thinking way out of the box, we need your ideas, your talents and time and your enthusiasm to help us develop a fund-raising strategy. We need products to give us visibility, posters, tote bags, chocolate bars to sell, baseball caps, etc.
